world warcraft alt tab

Specs: DFI Infinity rs482 1gb ram Athlon 64 3000+ XFX Nvidia 6600 extreme
When i run world of warcraft and alt tab to the desktop or any other application and try to alt tab back into warcraft, it locks and just shows a black screen with an x button on the top left hand corner. You cannot select that x button because the mouse and everything else is useless. You can still alt tab back into other applications (sometimes) and the os doesn't "completely" lock up.
I haven't tested this out with anything else, being that i hadn't loaded any other 3d games on my system or anything else as of this time.
Anyone having the same issue and found a solution? Let me know. Thanks!

I have not played WoW, but Oblivion, specifically warns against Alt-Tabbing out of it..
I think it is just a fact of life of how much these games take over the computer nowadays...

Well i was able to alt-tab in WinXP without a hitch. I just think the swapping from a 3D game might be bugged within Vista. I wasn't sure if anyone else came with it. If the game says not to, then it probably is for that reason, but most games i have played have not had problems tabbing out to check on things or messengers or anything.

Consider yourself lucky to get WOW running in Vista, most people are completely unable to get it working.

Vista and XP treat games differently. I know MSFT has been hyping gaming, and on this beta/non-optomized drivers and OS, my gaming is similar if not faster(different machine). Often when I come out of Oblivion, I get an "aurora" screen like booting up that says "setting up your desktop" or something like that. I think it unloads a bunch of stuff to allow games to take more control, so ALt-Tab'ing could be limited.

so are you able to play WoW and stuff ON VISTA? thats what i wanna know before i install it...

So you are able to play WoW and all that ON WINDOWS VISTA? thats what i wanna know before i install it.

I Have the same scenario but i cannot Alt tab to anything it does not permit me to do that. also i have no audio in World or Warcraft no audio what so ever. but the game does run solid.
